Why did you choose your profession?

From an early age, my experiences in school team sports ingrained in me the fundamental principle that collective success is best achieved through mutual support and teamwork. This early exposure to the power of collaboration shaped my career path. As I ventured into my professional life, I discovered a growing passion for fostering team excellence and organizational development. My career is driven by the conviction that continuous learning and development are not just beneficial but essential for achieving and surpassing organizational goals. This belief in the transformative power of learning organizations is the cornerstone of my professional ethos and continues to inspire my commitment to enhancing team performance and organizational success.

Who is the one person who has done the most, to shape you into who you are today? How was the person significant to you? 

The individual who has had the most profound impact on shaping who I am today is undoubtedly my undergraduate department chair, who was also my first mentor. Under her guidance, I gained invaluable insights into recognizing and crystallizing my passions and purpose. She introduced me to the true essence of mentorship and coaching, illuminating how these roles are pivotal in bridging the gap between an individual's or an organization's current state and their aspirational goals. Her mentorship was not just about imparting knowledge; it was about unlocking potential. This experience has been instrumental in shaping my approach to professional development and continues to influence my interactions within the workplace.

What has been the greatest accomplishment of your life so far? Is there anything you wish to do even better?

In my professional journey, the pinnacle of my accomplishments was transforming a nascent idea into a flourishing business. In my early thirties, after a decade immersed in the franchise industry, I had cultivated a deep understanding of the crucial roles systems and processes play in business success. This period taught me an invaluable lesson: the importance of ‘working on the business, not just in it.’
 
Starting from scratch, I was the architect and the builder of my company. In those initial stages, I undertook every conceivable role, gaining a comprehensive understanding of each facet of the business. The real turning point came when I secured our first major contract at a tradeshow. It was a moment of exhilaration and realization – ‘Oh Geez! Now I need to put everything I’ve learned into practice.’ This was the crucible in which my theoretical knowledge was tested and honed into practical business acumen.
 
I meticulously developed and implemented processes, designed training programs, and assembled a skilled team. The result was a thriving enterprise that stands as a testament to the power of blending knowledge with action.
 
This journey wasn’t just about building a business; it was about personal growth. I’ve never worked harder, experienced more joy, or learned more about myself than through this endeavor. It was an odyssey of professional and personal development that I cherish deeply.
